6 Home-Staging Tips to Sell Your Home Quickly

When you place your home on the market, your goal is to sell it as soon as possible. With time ticking, you want to avoid these home-staging mistakes that will turn off a buyer.

First and foremost, as a seller, you want to clean your home from top to bottom. Buyers are coming into your house and inspecting it. Most buyers will not give the house a chance if it is dirty. Make sure dust is not piled up in the corners of the rooms, and the kitchen counters are always wiped down. A clean house can go a long way in the process of placing that “sold” sign in your front yard.

Buyers also love big, open, airy spaces. If you have a lot of furniture in one room, consider decluttering and placing some furniture in storage to open up the space. Next, open the windows! This is the easiest way to brighten a room. Buyers will love to see natural light shining through the windows.

A neutral paint color will also brighten the home. A fresh coat of paint can transform a room. Natural light, clear excess furniture, and light paint colors will attract buyers to your home.

Stage the room with one purpose. You don’t want toys and an office desk in one room. This will confuse buyers. Is it a playroom or an office? To avoid this problem, stage it where buyers know the purpose and they can envision what they can use the space for.

Avoid odors. We love pets, and we know you do, too. However, buyers want to walk into a house and smell a fresh, clean scent or no odor at all. If the odor is trapped in your carpet, consider replacing it. You may see dollar signs now, but in the long run, your house will sell faster and new flooring is a plus for a new homeowner.

Curb appeal is just as important as staging the inside of your home. Spruce up your curb appeal by mowing the grass and adding a pop of color with flowers. Buyers will want to stop and tour your home if the outside is appealing. Remember, it may take a moment for their agent to unlock the door.  Make sure you put a nice plant or piece of décor by the entrance.  First impressions go a long way!

These are quick and easy tips to stage your home for selling. If you keep the buyer’s wants and needs in the forefront of your mind, you are ahead of the house-selling game!
