Is Moving Worth the Hassle?

IS MOVING WORTH THE HASSLE?

Moving is a hassle! I am in the business of selling homes, but I have to tell you I am at the top of the list when it comes to people who hate to move. When I think about moving, I think about lugging boxes of books, refrigerators, and pianos up and down stairs. My back would scream in pain, and I typically end up smashing my hand or finger. And, it never fails that I’m moving when it's 95 degrees and humid.

Well, hire it out! Well, that comes with its own hardships too. The last time I hired a moving company they “lost” my keyboard power chord, damaged furniture, and one of them spent at least 45 minutes in my bathroom- yuck! I hate dealing with movers too, because at the end of the day, they really aren’t going to be careful enough with our stuff and something always gets broken.

I typically operate under the philosophy, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. And there isn’t anything major wrong with my house, and I haven’t been relocated due to work. So, why would I consider moving? If someone kindly offered me a sum of money to move, I'd consider it. I’m not sure what my exact figure is, but $100,000 certainly gets my attention. It isn’t easy to save up that amount of money and if that sum is a payout for moving, I am likely to consider taking on the hassle!

How much money would it take you to move? In our current HEAVY SELLERS MARKET, this is a question you should consider. Can I handle the difficulties with moving for X amount of dollars? What would I need to net in order to make me move now? Or, which is a bigger disappointment - missing out on the potential to make a lot of money on my home (tax-free in primary residence 2 out of the last 5 years) or moving? Maybe it’s your time to finally list your home and move to the next!
