If you have children, the location will depend on where your kids will go to school. So many things depend on the location of your home. You can remodel a home, but you cannot change the location.
Amount of space:
You know how much space you need more than anyone else. If you go into the house-hunting process knowing you need a 4-bedroom to accommodate your family and your lifestyle, then stick to a 4-bedroom. You may find a 3-bedroom house that you believe is perfect but at the end of the day, you’re going to wish you had that extra bedroom. Space is important in your home. You don’t want to feel cramped and have to house hunt a year later because you outgrew your home. Remember, it is your dream house.
Your own style:
Stick to your vision of your home. If you have a more traditional style and you like separate living rooms, a formal dining room, then don’t conform to an open floor plan because that’s what your friends or coworkers are buying. You want your dream home to reflect your style and who you are as a person. You can fix the cosmetics of the house, but it is very expensive to reconstruct the layout of the home.
